Khavda Transmission Corridor supports India’s green energy transition

India is advancing its clean-energy transition through the development of high-capacity transmission corridors, such as the Khavda IV-C project. This infrastructure is designed to transport renewable power from generation-rich areas like the Khavda region in Gujarat to high-demand centers.

The Maharashtra component of the project involves approximately 306 circuit kilometers, spanning 150 villages across five talukas. This network of four transmission lines serves as an electricity highway to support regional grids.

India aims to reach 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, having achieved over 300.5 GW as of July 2026. Reliable transmission is considered essential for supporting industrial expansion and Maharashtra’s goal of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.
