Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine Endures Hour-Long Russian Explosive Attack

Russian forces struck a military facility in the western Ukrainian city of Khmelnytskyi, producing a series of large explosions that lasted more than an hour. The shockwaves rattled buildings, shattered windows and generated dense black smoke that was visible from nearby towns such as Yarmolyntsi and Krasyliv. Residents reported hearing the blasts at a distance and said no air‑raid sirens sounded before the attack. Initial reports indicated no casualties, and local authorities dispatched emergency teams to assess damage and determine the nature of the target, which is believed to have stored or produced weapons for Ukraine’s defence industry.

Following the Khmelnytskyi strike, Russian officials claimed additional attacks on several defence‑related sites in Kyiv, including the Radioizmeritel plant, the Burevestnik factory and a Fire Point facility that produce missile components and UAV parts. Media outlets referenced the possible use of Russia’s “Poseidon” underwater weapon system, noting the incident has heightened concerns within NATO about the scale of Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
