Khmer-Vietnamese Association promotes Cambodia-Vietnam ties

The Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia is working to strengthen socio-economic development and traditional friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam. Sim Chy, president of the association, noted that the organization operates in accordance with Cambodian laws regarding associations and non-governmental organizations.

Key activities include promoting respect for Cambodian customs, facilitating community integration, and supporting economic development. The association also provides humanitarian aid to both Vietnamese-origin and Cambodian individuals facing hardships such as natural disasters, fires, or displacement. Additionally, it serves as a bridge for economic cooperation between businesses and social organizations from both nations.

To foster connections among younger generations, the association is promoting university and postgraduate scholarships in Vietnam. Despite these efforts, Sim Chy highlighted that the organization faces resource and capacity limitations, as most members work on a voluntary basis without financial support.
