Kühne+Nagel opens technology center in Chennai

Logistics provider Kühne+Nagel has opened a new technology center in Chennai, India, as part of a strategic shift toward software-driven growth. The company plans to employ approximately 250 specialists at the site by early 2027 to develop digital products, with a primary focus on advancing its proprietary SALOG platform.

This expansion aligns with CEO Stefan Paul’s strategy to integrate IT-supported services more deeply into the company’s core operations. Paul has indicated expectations for at least three years of double-digit growth in logistics services tailored for technology companies and data centers.

In addition to the new center, Kühne+Nagel is pursuing several strategic partnerships to modernize its infrastructure. These include a long-term collaboration with Amazon regarding AWS infrastructure, an international agreement with Jungheinrich to manage 5,000 industrial trucks in Europe, and a memorandum of understanding with CATL to electrify transport flows in Europe and pilot battery-swapping technology for heavy trucks in China.
