Khofifah Indar Parawansa promotes East Java-North Kalimantan collaboration

Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Governor of East Java and Chairperson of the Universitas Airlangga Alumni Association (IKA UNAIR), is promoting cross-sector collaboration between East Java and North Kalimantan. During a dialogue forum in Tarakan, she highlighted opportunities to strengthen human resource development through education and economic sectors.

Specifically, Khofifah noted that East Java provides a 20 percent quota in its government-funded boarding schools, such as SMA Taruna, for students from outside the province. She encouraged the North Kalimantan alumni network to facilitate a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the education offices of both provinces to ensure children, particularly those in border areas, can access these educational opportunities.

Beyond education, the collaboration aims to include business matching in the livestock sector and strengthen supply chains. Khofifah suggested that East Java’s logistics connectivity could serve as a foundation for enhanced economic cooperation between the two regions.
