Khone Phapheng waterfall identified as Southeast Asia's largest by volume

Khone Phapheng, located in the Champasak province of southern Laos, is recognized as the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia by water volume. Situated on the Mekong River, the falls stretch across a distance of approximately 9.7 kilometers.

Unlike traditional high-altitude waterfalls, Khone Phapheng is characterized by massive amounts of water rushing through rapids, rocks, and small islands. The highest point of the falls reaches about 21 meters, with an average water flow rate of nearly 11,000 cubic meters per second, a figure that can increase significantly during high-water periods.
