Khuzestan road authorities upgrade 341 km of key transit corridor
The Khuzestan Road Maintenance and Transportation Department has announced the upgrading and asphalt resurfacing of 341 kilometers of the corridor connecting Tehran, Bandar Imam Khomeini, and Chabahar. This route is a vital artery for the country, handling approximately 70 percent of essential goods transported from the Bandar Imam Khomeini terminal to other regions.
To date, 151 kilometers of the route have been completed with an investment of over 4,325 billion rials. Work is currently underway on an additional 190 kilometers, with a budget exceeding 10,785 billion rials and a physical progress rate of 30 percent. The corridor sees roughly 350,000 daily trips, including 81,000 heavy vehicles, which accounts for 23 percent of the corridor's traffic and significantly exceeds the national average for freight vehicles.
To improve safety, authorities have activated 41 traffic violation recording systems and 20 traffic counters within the province. Recent safety measures also include 2,100 kilometers of road marking, the installation of 37,000 safety signs, and the repair or installation of 25 kilometers of guardrails.
