Sohail Afridi launches Pink Bus Service for women in Peshawar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has inaugurated the Pink Bus Service in Peshawar, a dedicated public transport initiative for women. The service operates on a 21-kilometer corridor from Gulbahar Station to Karakhano Market, running Monday through Friday during morning, afternoon, and evening hours. To increase accessibility, fares for the Pink Bus Service are set at 25 percent lower than standard rates. The service will initially utilize five buses, and entry is prohibited for males over the age of 12. Notably, the bus staff, including drivers, will also consist of women.

In addition to the new bus service, the Chief Minister inaugurated solarization projects at the Chamkani and Mall of Hayatabad depots and introduced new hybrid buses to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) fleet. The BRT fleet has expanded to 296 buses to accommodate approximately 250,000 daily passengers.

During the ceremony, Afridi addressed political tensions, stating that his administration would not accept decisions made in ‘closed rooms’ and would resist policies contrary to the province's interests. He also reaffirmed the party's commitment to a long march toward Islamabad scheduled for October 4.
