Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government penalizes 589 employees

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken disciplinary action against 589 officers and employees following an accountability drive. Since October 2025, 827 cases have been registered, with 629 concluded and 198 still under process.

Disciplinary measures included the removal of 128 employees from service, the dismissal of 18, and the compulsory retirement of six. Other penalties involved demotions, salary recoveries for 89 individuals, suspensions, and withheld promotions. Unauthorized absence was the most frequent offense, accounting for approximately 54 percent of cases. Other violations included negligence of duty, corruption, financial irregularities, and incompetence.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi stated that the accountability process would be conducted without discrimination, emphasizing transparency, merit, and good governance as provincial priorities. Field inspections also led to disciplinary actions against 90 employees at District Headquarters Hospital Swabi and 61 employees at District Headquarters Hospital Lakki Marwat.
