Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officials set targets for Peshawar infrastructure

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has established January 31, 2027, as the target completion date for the Peshawar Northern Bypass project. The National Highway Authority is currently accelerating construction across several packages, with Package-I finished and other sections ranging from 75 to 82 percent complete. Additionally, work continues on the Charsadda Road Flyover, which is approximately 25 percent complete.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has also directed officials to expedite urban development goals under Peshawar’s master plan, specifically focusing on 180-day targets. Key priorities include road repairs, underpass construction, and traffic management. Recent progress includes the completion of three underpasses, with work ongoing at Pishtakhara and Jamil Chowk.

Other urban initiatives involve upgrading 35 major roads, resurfacing University Road, and moving electricity wires underground. The government is also investing Rs500 million in street lighting and cabling along Ring Road and GT Road, while planning the activation of the New Peshawar Bus Terminal through a public-private partnership.
