Kia and Vemo invest 5 million pesos in Mexican charging infrastructure

Kia Mexico and Vemo have announced a partnership to expand the public electric vehicle charging network in Mexico. The collaboration involves an investment of 5 million pesos (approximately US$268,000) aimed at establishing new charging points in Mexico City and Guadalajara.

The first phase of the project has already been implemented in Monterrey, Nuevo León, where eight sites are currently operational. These locations include Paseo La Fe, Esfera Monterrey, Arboleda, Merco Linda Vista, ITESM Monterrey, EGADE Monterrey, Hospital Zambrano, and UANL Mederos. The Monterrey network utilizes a mix of direct-current (DC) and alternating-current (AC) chargers to provide varied options for users.

According to Vemo Watts Director Carlos Levy, the alliance is intended to accelerate electromobility by partnering with major automotive industry players. Kia Mexico Chief Sales Officer Kisoo Kim stated that the initiative seeks to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles by creating a reliable and accessible charging ecosystem.
