Kia unveils new PV5 purpose‑based vehicle lineup at Busan Mobility Show

Kia introduced three new models of its PV5 purpose‑based vehicle (PBV) platform at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show: the seven‑seat PV5 Passenger, the premium‑trim PV5 Prime, and the higher‑roof PV5 Cargo, alongside specialty variants such as an AI‑equipped patrol car, a mobile bank and a pet‑pop‑up store. CEO Song Ho‑seong said the company aims to expand its electric‑vehicle range to 14 models by 2030, including the PV5 series, and will tailor regional strategies—pursuing pure‑electric models in Korea and Europe and hybrid models in the United States.

Other manufacturers also used the show to launch new products. Hyundai rolled out the fully‑redesigned eighth‑generation Avante, fitted with the new “Pleo‑Connect” infotainment system and “Glio AI” voice assistant. Chinese EV maker BYD presented its first Korean‑market plug‑in hybrid, the C‑Series 6 DM‑i, priced at 37.5 million won. BMW showcased a limited‑edition 7 Series Nero Lusso edition and the upcoming iX3 electric SUV. The event featured 12 automakers from 12 countries, 141 companies and over 1,900 booths, highlighting the growing competition in software‑defined vehicles, PBVs and plug‑in hybrids.
