Kia EV9 owner receives 111,000 DKK bill due to charging error
A Canadian Kia EV9 owner faced a massive billing error after a technical fault at a Hypercharge charging station resulted in a bill exceeding 111,000 DKK. The issue stemmed from a loss of wireless connection between the charger and the company’s central system during a session in May 2025.
Because the system failed to register that the vehicle had disconnected, it continued to charge a fixed hourly rate for over 460 days. Despite the actual electricity transferred being only 4.91 kWh, the erroneous billing persisted until August 2026. The owner has filed a formal complaint, and the operator has since stopped the automated charges in its control system.
