Kia expands disability support to cultural arts via concert

Kia has expanded its 'Green Travel' social contribution program to include cultural and artistic support for people with disabilities. On the 29th, the company hosted the second 'Traveling Melody: Green Travel x Run Piano' concert at the National Folk Museum of Korea in Seoul.

Collaborating with the mobile concert project 'Run Piano' led by pianist Park Jong-hwa, the event drew approximately 3,000 attendees, including 1,400 individuals with developmental disabilities. The performance featured various artists, including trot singer Hwang Woo-rim and percussionist Kim Ji-hye. Notably, visually impaired National Assembly member Kim Ye-ji made a special appearance to perform Schumann-Liszt’s ‘Widmung’.

To ensure accessibility, Kia designed the venue with flat surfaces for wheelchair users and utilized simplified language to accommodate developmental disabilities. Volunteers from NGOs and local welfare agencies also assisted with safe transit for attendees.

Since 2012, Kia’s Green Travel initiative has provided free loans of specially modified vehicles to support mobility for the disabled, serving over 110,000 people over 15 years. The company plans to hold its final concert of the year at Olympic Park in October.
