Kia expands electrification strategy in South and Central America

Kia has announced its strategic vision for electrification across South America, Central America, and the Caribbean during the “Kia EV Day CSA”. The company aims to transition from a traditional vehicle manufacturer to a comprehensive provider of mobility solutions, utilizing a mix of electric, hybrid, and purpose-built platforms.

Steve Lee, president of Kia Central & South America, stated that electrification is a reality transforming the industry. The company reported a 146% increase in electrified vehicle sales in the region over the last year. Kia’s current regional lineup includes six electric models, five hybrid models, and the new PV5, which is part of its PBV strategy featuring passenger, cargo, and WAV versions. The electric models, such as the EV2 through EV9, are built on the E-GMP dedicated architecture designed for optimized range and fast charging.
