Kia introduces second‑generation Seltos hybrid SUV in Europe and Australia
Kia has launched the second‑generation Seltos, a C‑segment compact SUV that marks the brand's first entry into the European market. The model is larger than its predecessor, offering increased passenger and boot space, a more advanced interior with multiple digital displays, and a suite of driver‑assist technologies. Powertrains include a 1.6‑litre turbo‑charged gasoline engine delivering 180 kW and a hybrid variant, both paired with optional all‑wheel drive using Kia’s e‑AWD system. Development and testing were carried out across Kia’s facilities in Korea, Spain and Sweden to meet European driving conditions.
The launch is timed for an Australian release in October 2026, with pricing yet to be confirmed. Kia expects the hybrid Seltos to be competitively priced against rivals such as the Hyundai Kona Hybrid, Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and Honda HR‑V HEV, though exact figures have not been disclosed. The new Seltos will be offered in multiple trim levels, retaining features like a panoramic roof, integrated infotainment screens and optional safety packs.
Overall, the model aims to strengthen Kia’s SUV lineup, appealing to customers seeking a spacious, technology‑rich vehicle with improved fuel efficiency and hybrid capability.
