Kia off-road electric SUV revealed in new patent filing
A recent patent filing by Hyundai Motor Company with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has revealed new images of an off-road electric SUV, closely resembling the Kia EV9 ADVNTR concept.
The patent includes six external views of the vehicle from various angles. The design features modifications intended for outdoor adventures, such as reinforced side sills, all-terrain tires, and modified front and rear bumpers. It also includes specialized equipment like a roof rack capable of carrying extra luggage or supporting a rooftop tent, as well as front towing hooks for off-road recovery.
While the patent provides a clearer look at what a production version might look like, it does not confirm a specific production schedule or launch date. The vehicle would be based on the existing three-row EV9 platform but optimized for rugged terrain. This move aligns with a broader industry trend where manufacturers like Ford, Toyota, and BMW are targeting the high-margin adventure vehicle market.
