Kia pushes EV3 GT launch while targeting up to 70,000 Spanish EV registrations in 2026

South Korean automaker Kia unveiled the EV3 GT, a compact performance SUV built on the E‑GMP platform. The model delivers 215 kW (292 hp) from a dual‑motor setup, accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, and offers a WLTP range of up to 501 km. Priced at €53,990 with a €2,800 premium over the GT‑Line, deliveries begin in early August. Features include an electronic damper‑control system that scans the road with cameras, a virtual gear‑shift mode and synthetic engine sound, as well as a 10‑kW onboard charger and optional 22‑kW AC charger.

At the same time, Kia announced an upward revision of its Spanish sales outlook. The company now expects to register between 65,000 and 70,000 vehicles in Spain in 2026, a rise of roughly 15 % over the previous year, despite a lack of government electric‑vehicle purchase incentives. Kia plans to boost its electrified‑vehicle sales to about 60 % of total sales, targeting 13,070 EVs and 20,800 hybrids. New models such as the EV2, EV5 and an updated Niro are expected to drive this growth.
