Kia surpasses 100,000 annual electric vehicle sales in South Korea
Kia has become the first automotive brand to exceed 100,000 annual electric vehicle (EV) sales in the South Korean market. As of September 17, the company recorded 100,118 EV units sold, representing a 120% increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth is attributed to a diverse product lineup, including the EV3, EV5, and the purpose-built mobility (PBV) model PV5. The EV3, EV5, and PV5 have each surpassed 20,000 cumulative sales. Kia's total domestic sales reached 420,426 units, with EVs accounting for approximately 23.8% of that volume.
Globally, Kia reported August sales of 266,675 vehicles, a 5% year-on-year increase. In the Taiwan market, the company saw record-breaking performance, with August sales reaching 955 units, a 19.3% increase from the previous year. The Sportage and Stonic models have been key drivers of growth in the Taiwanese market.
