Kia sees rapid growth in European EV market

Kia is experiencing significant growth in the European automotive market, particularly within the electric vehicle (EV) sector. According to ACEA data, Kia recorded 377,078 new registrations in Europe between January and August 2026, representing a 9 percent increase compared to the previous year. This growth outpaces the overall European market, which grew by 5.8 percent during the same period.

Specifically, Kia's pure electric vehicle sales surged by 58 percent, securing a 4.8 percent share of the European EV market. Notable regional growth includes a 120 percent increase in France, 112 percent in Germany, 66 percent in the United Kingdom, 60 percent in Spain, and 41 percent in Italy.

In conjunction with this market expansion, Kia is introducing the EV2, a compact electric model manufactured in Slovakia. Designed for urban and suburban use, the EV2 features a 42.2 kWh battery providing an estimated range of 317 kilometers under the WLTP methodology. The model aims to serve as an entry point to the brand's electric lineup, offering a practical interior with a flexible seating configuration to balance passenger space and luggage capacity.
