Kia Sportage launches in Philippines and tops German SUV test

Kia has reintroduced the Sportage for the 2027 model year in the Philippines as a turbo‑hybrid compact SUV. The EX and SX trims start at ₱1,978,000 and ₱2,098,000 respectively, feature a 235‑horsepower powertrain, a 5‑year/160,000‑km bumper‑to‑bumper warranty and an 8‑year/160,000‑km battery warranty, and come with a range of exterior color options and interior finishes.

In Europe, the Sportage earned first place in a compact‑SUV comparison by Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport magazine. Scoring 541 points out of a possible 600, it led the group in body, convenience, powertrain and driving‑performance categories, surpassing rivals such as the Mazda CX‑5, Ford Kuga and Citroën C5 Aircross. Kia said the result reinforces the model’s strong reception in the European market and supports its strategy to expand globally.
