Kia Sportage next generation reveals squared design in spy photos
Kia is developing the next generation of its flagship Sportage SUV, with spy photos revealing a significant design shift. The upcoming model is expected to move away from the current version's soft curves in favor of a more squared-off, vertical aesthetic, aligning with the brand's electric vehicle lineup, such as the EV3 and EV5.
Technical details suggest the new Sportage will share a platform with the recently debuted Hyundai Tucson, likely resulting in increased dimensions and improved interior space. Design elements noted in prototypes include sharper window lines, a redesigned grille, and a potential split lighting setup featuring both vertical and horizontal LEDs.
Regarding powertrain options, the new model is expected to include mild-hybrid (MHEV) versions, potentially utilizing a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, as well as plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants capable of approximately 100 km of electric-only range. The interior is anticipated to feature the new Pleos Connect infotainment system.
