Kia Sportage updates focus on hybrid efficiency and next-gen design
The 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid offers various powertrain options, including gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid models. The hybrid variant provides a significant efficiency increase, reaching a combined 42 mpg compared to the 28 mpg of the standard gas model, with a price difference of approximately $1,700.
Updated styling for the 2026 model includes revised front and rear lines, a stacked LED headlight design, and new wheel patterns for the S and X Line trims. The interior features a spacious cabin with a curved 12.3-inch display, wireless smartphone integration, and over-the-air update capabilities.
Development is also underway for the next-generation Sportage, expected for a 2027 release. Prototypes have been spotted testing in Europe. The upcoming model is anticipated to feature a bolder design, a more muscular exterior, and a significant interior overhaul utilizing Hyundai Motor Group’s Pleos Connect cockpit, which may include larger touchscreens and AI-based voice assistance.
