Kia targets third place in Spain's electric vehicle market
Kia Iberia expects to finish 2026 as the third-largest brand in Spain's electric vehicle (EV) market, trailing only BYD and Tesla. The company projects sales of between 10,500 and 12,000 electric units by the end of the year.
As of mid-October, Kia has reached a milestone of 25,000 total electric vehicles sold since beginning its EV operations. Currently, electric models account for 14% of Kia's total sales in the region, surpassing the broader market share of 11% recorded in September. The brand's growth is driven largely by private consumers, who represent approximately 70% to 75% of EV sales, compared to 25% from corporate clients.
Kia's electric lineup has expanded to ten models, including the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, and EV9, alongside the PV5 commercial vehicle series. The Kia EV3 is expected to be one of the top-selling electric models in Spain this year. Company leadership noted a recent uptick in EV demand attributed to an increase in affordable model availability and rising fuel costs.
