Kiambu Governor Wamatangi alleges government corruption plots

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has alleged that the national government is using corruption investigations to derail his administration. Wamatangi claims that powerful officials have orchestrated a plan to impeach him after he refused to participate in a land-grabbing scheme involving affordable housing projects.

The Governor identified specific areas targeted for land grabbing, including 100 acres in Gatuanyaga, Thika, and land in Tigoni, Limuru, belonging to the National Potato Research Centre. He stated that the freezing of his bank accounts, investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the demolition of his business in Nairobi are part of a strategy to tarnish his reputation and trigger a voter revolt ahead of the 2027 elections.
