KIB-TEK Chairman Gürsel Uzun Clarifies Fuel Transport Lies with Winning Contractor

Gürsel Uzun, chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), stated that the organization’s fuel procurement follows the existing tender legislation and that the responsibility for transporting the purchased fuel rests with the company awarded the contract. He emphasized that the method of fuel delivery is not within KIB-TEK’s remit, which is limited to ensuring timely and complete receipt of fuel according to technical criteria. Uzun added that KIB-TEK continues efforts to secure direct fuel supplies from Turkey to strengthen energy security.

The comments address public speculation about the authority’s role in fuel acquisition and logistics, asserting that discussions about transport methods are outside the utility’s responsibilities.
