Kibbutz Nahal Oz undergoes reconstruction after Hamas attack

Three years after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, the kibbutz of Nahal Oz near the Gaza border is undergoing reconstruction. The attack resulted in the deaths of 15 members and the kidnapping of several others, of whom only six returned alive.

While most visible physical damage has been repaired and over three-quarters of the survivors have returned, the community continues to deal with deep psychological trauma. Residents describe an unbroken spirit despite the loss, noting that the level of destruction was somewhat mitigated by the presence of soldiers who engaged the attackers during the raid.
