Kichijoji Yusui announces themes for creative 2027 entrance exams
Kichijoji Yusui Junior and Senior High School, which will open in April 2027 following a name change and transition to co-education, has announced the official themes for its unique ‘Expression Creation Entrance Exam’. Operated by Inokashira Gakuen, the school aims to move beyond traditional academic metrics to evaluate individual potential and the ability to express personal values in an era of AI.
The exam offers four distinct tracks: Art, Essay, Digital, and Dance. Students can consult with family, teachers, or AI during the creative process, provided they can explain their reasoning and decision-making during a follow-up dialogue.
- Art: The theme is ‘Unevenness’ (Dekoboko), where students express their interpretation of irregularities in life, light, or sound. - Essay: Students choose between two prompts regarding things they value that are hard to explain, or what they hope to discover during their six years at the school. - Digital: Students must design a digital work that offers comfort or choice to children who find it difficult to attend school, without explicitly telling them to ‘come to school’. - Dance: Students choreograph a routine to one of three selected songs.
The first round of exams is scheduled for February 1, 2027, with a second round on February 4, 2027.
