KickFlip releases fifth mini album with double title tracks

K-pop boy group KickFlip has released their fifth mini album, ‘Kick Off The Wall Pt. 1’, marking their first comeback in approximately six months. The album features a double title track concept: ‘Puzzle Piece’ (미완성), which focuses on self-reflection and uncertainty, and ‘Kick Off The Wall’, a more energetic track featuring American rapper iann dior.

All seven members participated in the songwriting and production credits for the eight tracks included in the album. The group’s musical direction has shifted from their previous pop-rock sound toward a more complex style incorporating electronic elements and a more sophisticated scale.

Initial commercial data shows a mixed reception to this stylistic change. While the two-day cumulative Hanteo sales reached 344,955 copies, this figure is approximately 10.4% lower than the initial two-day sales of their previous album, ‘My First Kick’. Additionally, first-day unique listener counts on the Melon streaming platform for both title tracks were lower than the previous release, suggesting the shift in musical direction may be impacting immediate mainstream accessibility.
