Rapper Kid Cudi has launched an initiative to discover new talent for his Mad Solar record label. The artist plans to form a new rap group by inviting fans to record verses over a custom beat he released on SoundCloud.

Cudi stated on X that he is looking for polished, original performers who possess a compelling story. While the project offers a unique path to a professional recording contract, Cudi warned that he will be “very critical” of the submissions. He also instructed participants not to manipulate the original beat.

The community response was immediate. Cleveland-based musician Dave Zup shared a version of the track on X, which prompted a direct response from Cudi.
