Kidney health: Experts advise on dietary habits and early warning signs
Medical experts are highlighting critical lifestyle factors and early warning signs related to kidney health. Dr. George Hart of Interwell Health advises that limiting processed foods, salt, and sugary drinks is essential to prevent hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, which are primary drivers of chronic kidney disease.
Additionally, Dr. Akshta Pai from Northwell Health notes that foamy urine can be a significant indicator of kidney damage. This phenomenon often occurs when the kidneys' filtration system fails to keep proteins in the blood, allowing them to leak into the urine. While temporary foam can be caused by dehydration or strong urine flow, persistent, thick, small bubbles that do not dissipate quickly may signal a need for medical evaluation, particularly in individuals with existing diabetes or high blood pressure.
