Kidričevo hosts Roots in Motion international folklore festival
The first part of the international Roots in Motion project was held from June 20 to 22, 2026, in the Municipality of Kidričevo. Co-financed by the European Union under the CERV program, the festival aimed to foster intercultural cooperation through folklore and cultural heritage.
The event brought together children, mentors, families, and local community representatives from Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Activities included performances by folklore groups from Cirkovce Primary School and cultural-artistic societies from Ugljevik, such as Rudar Ugljevik and Ravno Polje Ugljevik.
Participants engaged in workshops where children from Cirkovce taught Slovenian folk dances and customs to their peers from Ugljevik, who in turn shared their own traditional dance steps. The festival emphasized the role of children in preserving and passing on cultural heritage to future generations.
