Kids in Energy program promotes STEM in northern Chile

The 'Kids in Energy' program, an initiative by the World Energy Council (WEC) Chile in collaboration with Redinter and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), was recently held in Arica and Pozo Almonte.

Between August 4 and August 6, 180 students in 5th and 6th grade participated in interactive workshops designed to promote energy literacy and interest in STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Using specialized educational kits, students explored concepts such as solar and wind energy, green hydrogen, energy efficiency, and the energy transition.

The program was implemented in the northern regions of Chile, specifically Tarapacá and Arica y Parinacota, areas currently experiencing significant renewable energy development. Local energy authorities noted that such initiatives are vital for developing the future human capital and technical professionals needed to lead the country's sustainable energy transition.
