Kiel residents protest rising parking permit fees
Residents and business owners in Kiel are expressing frustration following a significant increase in parking permit costs and the establishment of new parking zones. The annual resident parking permit has tripled in price, rising from 30 euros to 90 euros.
New parking zones were implemented around Schrevenpark on August 1. Local business owners have reported that the lack of accessible parking for clients and employees may force them to relocate. The ADAC has criticized the price hikes, suggesting that motorists increasingly feel pushed out of city centers. Other municipalities in Schleswig-Holstein, including Lübeck and Neumünster, are also reportedly planning higher parking fees.
