Kielce public transport addresses bus information system issues
Passengers in Kielce have reported issues with the public bus information systems, specifically regarding voice announcements and display visibility. Users noted that voice announcements for upcoming stops are often missing or too quiet to be heard over ambient noise, which poses challenges for passengers with visual impairments.
Barbara Damian, director of the Kielce Municipal Transport Authority (ZTM), stated that approximately 150 buses perform nearly 3,000 trips daily, making occasional technical failures possible. She advised that specific incidents should be reported directly to ZTM via email or telephone.
To address visibility issues with route displays in sunlight, ZTM announced that upcoming tenders for new contracts—set to replace the current agreement with Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji after 2027—will require larger, more visible front and rear displays. Future buses will feature white text for directions instead of the current amber color, a standard already implemented in the city's electric bus fleet.
