Kier and Breheny secure £100m Sizewell C highways contract

Sizewell C has appointed Kier and Breheny Civil Engineering to take over a £100m highways package for the Suffolk nuclear energy project. The contractors will replace Galliford Try, which had completed a 20-month period of early contractor involvement but failed to reach an agreement on commercial terms for the construction phase.

The new contract involves the construction of a 6.5km link road and a 1.8km bypass. Despite the change in contractors, the project remains on schedule, with the bypass expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and the link road by the start of 2028. Sizewell C indicated that the new suppliers are already working on the project and are well-positioned to deliver the programs.
