Kieran Cuddihy’s €201,000 RTÉ Salary and Kilkenny Commute Spotlight Media Pay Transparency

Irish broadcaster Kieran Cuddihy left Newstalk to become the host of RTÉ Radio 1’s phone‑in show Liveline. Under new public‑pay rules his annual salary of €201,000 will be disclosed, marking the first time his earnings are made public. Cuddihy said the forthcoming publication of top‑earner lists feels “weird” but expected it, noting that only his wife had previously known his pay.

He continues to live in Kilkenny with his wife Natasha and their two children, commuting about an hour and a half each way to RTÉ’s Donnybrook studios in Dublin. Despite the long drive, Cuddihy says he has no intention of moving back to Dublin, citing his family’s roots in Kilkenny and the personal shift that parenthood has brought.
