Kieran McKenna to join UEFA as technical observer

Former Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has announced he will return to football as a UEFA technical observer. His first assignment in the role will be the Champions League match between Shakhtar Donetsk and AEK Athens.

McKenna, who led Ipswich Town to promotion to the Premier League before stepping down in June to spend time with his family, stated he is in “no rush” to return to a permanent managerial position. He noted that he is using this period to learn and improve, having already spent time observing Bayern Munich, the Colorado Rapids, and the Wigan Warriors rugby league team.

Regarding his future, McKenna expressed a desire to lead a team that plays attacking football and focuses on player development. While he has been frequently linked to the managerial position at Celtic, he has declined to comment directly on those specific rumors.
