Kifisia Municipality Declares 26 October Local Holiday

A Presidential Decree (No. 42) signed by President Konstantinos Tsoulas, Interior Minister Theodoros Livanis and Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Athanasios Petrali establishes 26 October as an official local holiday for the Municipality of Kifisia in Attica, Greece. The decree was published in the Government Gazette on 14 July 2026 and takes effect immediately.

The new holiday commemorates the feast day of Saint Demetrius of Myrovlyto and applies to all residents and employees of public services and businesses within Kifisia’s municipal boundaries. It replaces the former local holiday on 6 August, which had been set by a 1949 royal decree.

From 2026 onward, citizens and workers in Kifisia will receive an additional day off each year to celebrate the patron saint.
