Peek & Cloppenburg faces potential loss of flagship stores to Inditex
The German fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg (P&C) may lose its prestigious flagship locations in Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Frankfurt. According to reports from Handelsblatt, the Spanish fashion group Inditex, which owns brands such as Zara, Bershka, and Massimo Dutti, is expected to take over these properties.
The real estate is managed by Midstad, a company associated with the same entrepreneurial family that owns Peek & Cloppenburg. This suggests a divergence of economic interests between the retail division and the real estate management arm. While reports indicate that lease agreements with Inditex may have already been signed, a P&C spokesperson stated that nothing has been decided regarding the future of these locations.
In Düsseldorf, the move could potentially occur as early as October 2027. A spokesperson noted that the flagship buildings are being considered for mixed-use redevelopment, which may include office spaces and a reduction in total retail area.
