KiK to close 150 stores in Germany as part of retail restructuring

Textile discounter KiK is restructuring its retail network, with plans to close approximately 150 stores in Germany by the end of 2026. This is part of a larger European strategy that involves closing around 300 locations across the continent.

As of mid-October 2026, at least 76 German locations have already been confirmed for closure or have already closed. Affected areas include major cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt. In North Rhine-Westphalia, several locations in cities like Essen, Hamm, Marl, and Troisdorf have been impacted.

While KiK has not released a comprehensive list of all planned closures, specific upcoming shutdowns have been confirmed for locations such as Fürstenberg in Brandenburg and Stockelsdorf in Schleswig-Holstein, both scheduled for November. The company operates in 14 countries, including Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, and several others in Central and Eastern Europe.
