KiK to close 150 stores in Germany during restructuring
Textile and household goods discounter KiK is restructuring its retail network, planning to close approximately 150 stores across Germany by the end of 2026. This move is part of a broader economic realignment following a period of significant expansion where some locations were situated too close to one another.
In the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), at least eight stores across seven cities have already been affected or closed. Confirmed locations include Essen, Hamm, Marl, Ochtrup, Radevormwald, Troisdorf, and Wassenberg. In Hamm, two separate locations are slated for closure, with one occurring in August and another expected in October 2026.
Nationwide, the company has already closed 65 branches, including sites in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt. On a larger scale, KiK intends to close around 300 locations across Europe. The company has declined to release a complete list of all planned closures.
