Kiko Dinucci releases new album Medusa

Brazilian musician, composer, and producer Kiko Dinucci has released his new studio album, Medusa. This marks his first major release in six years following his 2020 work, Rastilho.

Dinucci describes the project as “an album of love, ghosts, and beasts.” The record explores a unique sonic territory he calls “Exugaze,” a blend of Brazilian samba, 1970s romantic ballads reminiscent of Roberto Carlos, and the shoegaze/dream pop aesthetics of the 1990s.

Moving away from the acoustic guitar focus of his previous work, Dinucci utilizes electric guitars, synthesizers, and lo-fi processing to create dense, spectral layers. The album's inspiration stemmed from a failed recording session in 2024, leading to a creative shift that incorporates reinterpretations of Noel Rosa's work through an electric, experimental lens.
