Kilis market raid uncovers hundreds of expired, infested food items

Municipal police in Kilis inspected a local supermarket and discovered hundreds of food products whose expiry dates had passed, some as far back as 2016. Several items were found to be contaminated with insects and mites. The seized goods were destroyed and the business was fined under the Turkish Administrative Penalties Law.

Officials said the operation demonstrated ongoing vigilance, noting that the store had been inspected repeatedly and that the owner appears to have restocked old products after previous checks. They emphasized that sales of products harmful to public health will not be tolerated and inspections will continue.
