Kilkis forest fire triggers emergency response in Plagia

A forest fire broke out late in the evening on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in the Plagia area of the Paionia Municipality in Kilkis, Greece. The Fire Service was alerted to the incident at approximately 22:45.

Emergency responders deployed 12 firefighters and five vehicles to the scene. The Paionia Municipality provided additional support using water tankers. According to initial reports, the fire did not threaten any inhabited residential areas.

The Thessaloniki Arson Crimes Investigation Panel has been mobilized to investigate the cause of the blaze.
