Killer Kross criticizes current direction of professional wrestling
Killer Kross, the reigning MLW World Champion, has expressed dissatisfaction with the current direction of professional wrestling. In an interview with 11Alive, Kross criticized the increasing amount of airtime dedicated to advertisements and sponsorships at the expense of matches and storylines.
Kross compared the viewing experience to attending a theatrical production, noting that constant commercial interruptions disrupt audience immersion. While acknowledging the business necessity of generating revenue, he argued that treating wrestling airtime like real estate for advertisers detracts from the core product.
When asked which performers might lead the industry into the future, Kross stated he could not predict who would carry the torch because the future of the industry itself is uncertain. He noted that wrestling has historically served as a reflection of social commentary and culture, making it difficult to identify specific leaders without knowing how the industry will evolve.
