Kim Bu-seon disputes 200 million won loan repayment lawsuit

South Korean actress Kim Bu-seon is engaged in a legal dispute with the bereaved family of a deceased acquaintance regarding the repayment of approximately 200 million won. The family has filed a lawsuit for the return of loans and has placed a provisional attachment on Kim’s apartment in Oksu-dong, Seoul.

The central point of contention is whether the funds transferred between 2013 and 2025 were loans intended for repayment or unconditional financial support. The family claims the total amount sent was nearly 200 million won. Kim, however, maintains that while she did borrow money, her actual debt is only 70 million won. She asserts that the remaining funds, including regular monthly transfers and gifts for holidays or birthdays, were non-repayable support.

Kim stated that she has already deposited the 70 million won she acknowledges as debt into the court to demonstrate her intent to repay. The family disputes her claim, arguing that it is unlikely such large sums were given without any expectation of return. The court proceedings are ongoing, with the next hearing scheduled for October 2.
