Kim Clijsters recalls car accident during WTA Finals

Former tennis star Kim Clijsters recently shared a dramatic memory from her career during an appearance on the Love All Podcast. She recounted a serious car accident that occurred while traveling to a WTA Finals semifinal in Doha against Samantha Stosur.

Clijsters explained that she had refused to switch seats with her agent, Bob, due to superstition, opting to sit in the back as per her usual routine. During the trip, the vehicle was struck by another car, causing the windows to shatter. Her agent sustained injuries from the broken glass, but Clijsters managed to arrive at the arena, complete a brief warm-up, and ultimately win the match to advance to the final.

Clijsters, a three-time WTA Finals champion with a 19-7 record at the event, noted that the incident was one of many unusual circumstances during her era of professional tennis.
