Kim Do-young hits 38th home run to tie personal record

KIA Tigers player Kim Do-young hit his 38th home run of the season during a game against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome, tying his personal single-season record. The massive 135-meter home run came in the third inning off a 149 km/h fastball.

This performance follows a recent incident where Kim was struck in the left elbow by a 156 km/h pitch. Despite the impact, Kim continued to play, later informing manager Lee Bum-ho that he was fine. With this 38th home run, Kim is now only two homers away from potentially breaking Lee Seung-yuop’s record for the youngest player to reach 40 home runs in a season.

While Kim's performance bolstered KIA, the game ended in a dramatic comeback for Kiwoom. Leading 7-2 in the ninth inning, Kiwoom rallied with a two-run single by Matt Davidson and a bases-loaded, walk-off home run by Kim Jae-hyun to secure an 8-7 victory.
