Kim Do-young named KBO League August MVP
KIA Tigers infielder Kim Do-young has been named the KBO League Monthly MVP for August. Despite trailing Doosan Bears pitcher Kwak Bin in the journalists' vote, Kim secured the title through overwhelming support in the fan vote, receiving 277,640 votes (56.1%).
During August, Kim recorded a .321 batting average, 6 home runs, 12 RBIs, 16 runs scored, and a .714 slugging percentage. His performance included hitting his 39th home run of the season, surpassing his previous personal best of 38. While he narrowly missed the record for the youngest player to hit 40 home runs, he is now just one home run away from becoming the first domestic player to reach the 40-home run milestone in eight years.
In addition to a trophy and 3 million won in prize money, a 2 million won donation will be made to Kim's alma mater, Gwangju Dongseong Middle School, in his name through Shinhan Bank sponsorship.
